Georgia Cabins and Land Rentals FAQ’S
Where are we located?
- Our office is located in the Heart of Historic Downtown Blue Ridge in Blue Ridge, GA. We are easily found on East Main Street next to the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway.
Are there places to eat?
- Our small mountain town has hometown restaurants, specialty restaurants, cafés and many fast food chains and coffee shops.
What’s there to do while you are here?
- Whether it’s sitting on the porch taking in a breath taking mountain views or relaxing next to a babbling brook, there is tons of activities for everyone! Do as little or as much as you like! You may enjoy strolling through the many antique shops and boutiques in Downtown Blue Ridge or having a relaxing lunch at one of the many specialty restaurants. For those more adventurous at heart, we have horseback riding, whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River, tubing on the Toccoa River and tons of hiking nearby. You may want to speed down the Zip Line for heart stopping thrills! Our Lake Blue Ridge is one of the most pristine in the southeast and is great for fishing, swimming and boating. If you want to take in a movie, be sure to visit the Swan Drive In, one of the last remaining drive-ins in Georgia! For a relaxing trip to sight see, you may want to take a trip on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. No matter the age, Blue Ridge has something for everyone!
What are the benefits of a vacation cabin rental?
- Our vacation cabins and lodges are stocked in such a way that you always feel like you are coming "home" to your "vacation home" rather than returning to a small hotel room. Our properties are a home away from home and have full kitchens instead of a small, cramped hotel room.
What type of properties do we offer?
- We offer a selection of privately owned vacation homes with beautiful mountain views, creek side settings, riverside settings and wooded settings. Each home is furnished to the owners liking and style, so each property has its own unique personality. Each property also offers different amenities, number of people they can accommodate and allowances for smoking, pets and etc., so be sure to choose the best fit for your getaway to the North Georgia Mountains!
What is the minimum night stay?
- We have a 3 night minimum during the week of all Holidays to included: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Martin Luther King Jr Day. All other times, we have a 2 night minimum. *Note: A last minute booking made be placed for reservations that are made on the same day as check in. These are not guaranteed.
Can you book online?
- Yes! Just check the calendar for the dates you wish to arrive and depart and follow the steps to reserve. A confirmation and Rental Agreement will be emailed to you for your signature to confirm booking. Or you may wish to call in and speak to one of our friendly reservationists to help you with your selection and answer any questions you may have. Is booking online secure?
- We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. After a transaction, your private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers.
What are the Reservation Requirements?
- A signed Rental Agreement, copy of valid driver’s license and a valid credit card is required to secure reservation. Half of the total balance is due at the time of booking with Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. The remaining balance is due 7 days prior to check in and may be made with one of the accepted credit cards, money order or a check drawn on a US Bank.
Final payment will be charged against the credit card on file 7 days prior to check in. (If check in date is within 7 days of the booking date, the total balance is due in full at the time of booking).
Do we require a Security Deposit?
- The primary credit card or any other type of credit card provided for payment may be used as form of security by Agent for any guest fines, fees or additional services due to guests neglect, misuse or damage. At the time of check in a security deposit hold will be placed on the credit card for $250.00. This hold will be released 7 days after check out date in the event that no damage is found and all policies and procedures have been followed. Note, for those that wish to pay by check or money order, please call our office for payment and security deposit instructions.
Are there any additional fees?
- A cleaning fee and 10% tax will be added to each stay. Cleaning fees vary from property to property depending on size and cleaning difficulty. 12% tax applies to those properties located in Gilmer Co. A processing fee of $10.00 will be added to each stay.
How many people are nightly rates based on?
- Advertised nightly and weekly rates are based on 1-4 people occupancy. If occupancy exceeds 4 people, guest(s) agree to pay $15.00 per person per night extra. (Does not include infants and children less than 1 year old).
What is the Cancellation Policy?
- All cancellations request must be submitted in writing via email, fax or certified mail and are not considered complete until Guest(s) receives email confirmation from Agent. Cancellation fees are as follows:
From time of booking until 7 days prior to arrival date: $ 50.00
Within 6 days to 4 days prior to arrival: $250.00
Within 3 days or less prior to arrival, Guest(s) Forfeits all monies paid.
“No Shows” forfeit all monies paid..

Exceptions apply only at the discretion of the agent.
Is rescheduling allowed?
- We are happy to reschedule for our guest up to 3 days prior to arrival date. However, fees do apply for date changes or request to change from one property to another after a reservation has been confirmed. A $10.00 Change Fee will be assessed for any date and/ or property changes requested to a Confirmed reservation. However, no rescheduling or date changes can be done 3 days prior to arrival date
What time is check in and check out?
- Check in time is anytime after 4:00 pm at GCLR office and check out time is 10:00 am.
How do I get directions and key to my cabin?
- At the time of booking, you will be provided with directions to our office. Upon arrival at our office to check in, you will be provided with a check in packet containing property directions and a key to the cabin along with Policies and Procedures. After hours check ins will be provided alternate instructions on obtaining a check in packet prior to arrival date. Always let us know if you plan to arrive later than office hours.
What’s the age limit to rent a property?
- Guest(s) must be 21 years of older to reserve most of our cabins. (If age limit is different, it will be posted in the remarks of the individual property. Guest(s) who initiates rental will remain responsible for all other guest(s), children or visitors during occupancy of subject property. Guest(s) who initiates rental must be a member of the party coming and must remain the entire duration of the stay. *(A copy of a valid driver’s license is required to secure a reservation).
Do we offer Travel Insurance and why should I purchase it?
- Travel Insurance protects you for all the things that could happen to prevent, interrupt or delay you from taking your vacation. If you have to cancel your reservation for any reason it will cost you. Even the best-planned travel can be impacted by the unexpected. Illness...medical emergencies...severe weather...mechanical breakdown…..delayed flights…lost passports or luggage and, even financial default. Troubles can occur when you least anticipate them forcing you to cancel or interrupt your trip, lose your vacation investment, and incur additional expenses. When you're away from home things like medical emergencies and illness are even more difficult to manage. Travel Insurance can give you the peace of mind that the unexpected is covered. You can opt to purchase the Travel Insurance with your reservation online. You can also buy security deposit insurance as well.
What do we need to bring to stay in the North Georgia Mountains?
- All that’s necessary to bring is your clothes, food and personal toiletries. Your cabin will be stocked with an initial supply of toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, dish soap, dishwashing detergent, hand soap, bath towels and linens. However, it may be a good idea to bring or pick up extra paper towels, laundry detergent, aluminum foil and coffee filters as these are not always available at the cabin. Our small town has several grocery stores including, Food Lion and Ingles.
Do the properties have fully equipped kitchens?
- Yes, each property has a fully equipped kitchen. However, for special occasions and holidays where special dishes may be prepared, guest may want to bring along the cookware and serving ware as the home may not have exactly what needs to be used in for that dish.
Do you have any pet friendly properties?
- We offer several cabins, some of which allow pets and some do not. You can either look at our properties online by clicking on the "vacation rentals" tab above and see if the cabin you are looking at allows pets. Or you can call our office at 706.455.3109 and a receptionist would love to help find a cabin that is just right for you and your pet.
Is smoking permitted in any or our properties?
- Smoking is not permitted inside properties. If someone in the party does smoke, we asked that this be done outdoors and be neatly disposed of and without fire hazards.
When can fireplaces be used?
- Fireplaces are in use from October 1st to April 30th. Fireplaces cannot be used from May 1st to September 30th.
Is Firewood provided for wood burning fireplaces?
- A small, initial supply of firewood FOR INSIDE FIREPLACES ONLY is provided. Fire starters and kindling to start fires is not provided. Wood is not provided for exterior Fireplaces, Camp Fires, Fire Pits, or similar, due to the large volume usage of wood. *Guest(s) will need to bring firewood for outdoor use. After the initial supply is used, additional wood is the responsibility of the guest. Bundles of firewood can be purchased at most all convenience stores.
Do some properties have gas log fireplaces?
- Some properties do have gas log fireplaces. Check the amenities on each property to see if it has wood burning or gas. If the property has a gas log fireplace, operating instructions are located in the guest information book located in each property.
How do we clean our hot tubs?
- A member of our trained staff drains, sanitizes, and refills the hot tub after each guest(s). We chemically treat the water at this time to maintain water purity.
How is the drive to the property?
- Most cabins are on narrow, one lane, gravel roads and some of the driveways maybe steep. Please ask when making your reservation if you can access property with 2 WD. Some properties maybe marked 4 WD only.
Are the photos on the website really what we see?
- Absolutely!!!! The pictures are real and are actually of the cabin. We do not add nor take away from the photo.
Do you have cell phone service?
- Most of the cabins do have cell phone service. However, please ask when you make reservations if this is a must. Some phone service providers stop working about 45 minutes before you get into Blue Ridge, GA and will not regain service the entire stay in Blue Ridge.
Do our properties have BBQ Grills?
- Yes, all of our properties are equipped with either a charcoal grill or a gas grill. Most gas grills are hooked to a large propane tank, if not each grill does a have a small tank. An initial supply is supplied for those having the small portable tank. If the initial supply runs out, it is the guest responsibility to have refilled to continue use. Charcoal will need to brought or picked up by guests.
What kind of Wildlife do we have in the North GA Mountains?
- You many see a bear in many of our cabins. You may also see turkey, deer, raccoon, squirrel, snakes, etc. Do not feed them or attempt to pet them.
Wildlife you may encounter:
Black bear, Coyotes, Ladybugs swarming, Fire Ants, Ticks, Wasps, Hornets, Chiggers, Copperhead, black snake, rattlesnake, Scorpions, black widow spider, brown recluse spider, Yellow Jackets, Possum, Ground Hogs and Raccoons.
We are unable to warrant your safety or protection from these critters and urge you to use common sense and stay alert when outside!
Bugs?
- The cabins get regular treatment for pests. However, you will see some critters time to time since they are in the woods. Winter is ladybug season and you will see several lady bugs during your stay. They are harmless.
