How does this work? First, you must adopt a duck. Ducks can be adopted for $5/duck or 5 ducks for $20. On race day, your duck will be entered into the race. Five thousand ducks will be dumped into the Toccoa River and the winning duck (along with the 2
I was having a conversation with a customer the other day, and I asked her save the date August 29, 2009. Her response was, "Of course, what’s going on". I proceeded to tell her that we would be racing 5000 ducks (hopefully more if adoptions allow) down the Toccoa River and it was going to be one of the biggest events of the season. You can imagine the look on her face-probably very similar to the look on the faces of those of you reading this right now. Open Arms, a non-profit organization here in Blue Ridge, will be holding a new and exciting fundraiser in order to raise funds and awareness for the new children’s assessment shelter. This is a huge event that is held in numerous cities (large and small) across the country. The possibilities are endless. nd,3rd,4th, and 5th place duck) will receive a very exclusive prize. However, this is not all that race day has to offer. It is going to be a day of entertainment with lots of family fun. There will be rock climbing, face painting, clowns, live entertainment, fingerprinting children for I.D. purposes, popcorn, cotton candy, and much, much more.
